Build Sequence

  Explanation of Trim Levels

1959 was the last year that Chrysler started a build number at 0001 for each trim level.

Custom 0001 thru 7798

Crown 0001 thru 8332

LeBaron / Limo 0001 thru 1139

That gives the total production of 1959 Imperials 17,269 built.

In 1960 they started with 0001 and each car that rolled off the line was given the next number until the last car build that year had the highest production number, regardless of trim package.

Custom Trim Level

1 – The Custom trim package has NO gold crown above the eagle chrome on the front top edge of the front fenders.

2 – There are single rings on the fins on the back quarter panels with a shield emblem.

3 – The emblem on the glovebox has a gold Crown followed by the word Imperial. The same as the Crown trim level.

Crown Trim Level

1 – There is a gold crown above the eagle trim on both front fenders.

2 – There is a crown emblem on the single rings on the fins of the rear quarter panels.

3 – The emblem on the glove box has a gold Crown followed by the word Imperial. The same as the Custom trim level.

LeBaron Trim Level

1 – Double rings on the fins with no emblem.

Exception: The first few hundred LeBarons built had a single ring like the Crown style. At least though VIN number 150.

2 – The top fender trim is extended past the front fenders and through the front doors almost to the door handles.

3 – There is a gold gear shaped ring in the hubcaps, as the Custom and Crown are silver. Note: a bunch of cars have been changed out to gold, but that was not factory protocol.

4 – On the side on the front fenders instead of italicized letters IMPERIAL, it has a gold cursive script LeBaron with a Emblem of a crown on a white background.

5 – There is a LeBaron Gold script on the passenger’s side of the trunk lid.

6 – There are emblems on the lower rear quarter panels that are white, blue and red shield with a gold crown shaped trim.

7 – The Emblem on the glovebox reads LeBaron instead of Imperial. Exclusive to LeBaron trim level.

Crown Imperial Limousine by Ghia

Trim Level

The Limousines were grouped together in the LeBaron trim level serial number series.

There were seven of these Limousines made and they were all individually custom built by Ghia in Italy. They are no common denominators with the trim on these cars, but it’s still worth showing some of the badging and trim that they had. I’ve been able to find five of the seven, and it’s a great story. Please check out the Ghia Limo page.

Cars separated by Trim Package and in Vin Number order

The following three sections are the cars separated into their Trim Packages, Custom, Crown, LeBaron and in Vin Number order.

These are cars that I know what the vin numbers are. For the complete collection of albums of cars, go to all ten pages of body styles to view all cars including ones without the vin numbers.
